A Very Lily Valentines Day

I like to look at "last year at this time" pictures with Lily and marvel at how big she's gotten and ooh and ahhh over how teeny and cutie she was. You know, typical mom adoration.

Last year  Valentine's Day was Lily's ear piercing day. How cutie and chubby she looks!

This year, she and I spent the day jus playing at home and she spent a lot of time running. She likes to do that a lot and often just runs laps around the house.
She simply started her day watching "Hot Dog" otherwise known as Mickey Mouse Clubhouse sitting on the steps with her "bankeeeee"

And then a little breakfast of pink heart shaped

pancakes before her morning nap.

While she was taking a nap, I made a tutu to take some pictures of her in Valentine outfits. She wasn't so excited about it at first, even after I let her put her "pretties" on.



She marveled at herself for a few minutes in a mirror:

Lily recently learned to go down steps, so as you can imagine it's a really fun game for her since she can do it safely.

And off she went...

She didn't stop the entire time she was awake except to ask me for more milk and to take a quick read.

After she had lunch, she danced for a little while and showed off one of her other new "tricks" of climbing up onto any available surface. This one luckily happened to be a chair.

Along with climbing she loves to make silly faces mostly cheesy.

This closed eye one is deliberate.

Lily finished off her Valentines Day with a little cupcake and dancing.

Her special Valentine card has been a favorite of hers too as she doesn't want to put it down. I LOVE it!

Elementary Valentines

Today Andrew and Reagan celebrate Valentines Day the elementary school way! With parties, cards, boxes, lots of red, white and pink.

They each have classroom parties today. Reag worked hard on her box at home to have it ready for school while Andrew chose not to do one. 

Yeah, apparently in 6th grade it is definitely not cool.  Honestly, it was like pulling teeth to get him to do cards. "I'm the only one in my class who's going to have them."  Yeah, right.  They're having a party too and since next year they move up to junior high, I'm betting he'd be the only one without cards for their last Valentines party if he didn't take them. 

He picked the card he wanted and that was that.  Easy peasy.  All he had to do was write his classmates names on them. He didn't want to take any treats.  I guess I do need to "face the facts" haha.

I think his cards are super cute and definitely all boy.

Reagan, on the other hand, loves cutesy stuff and as she was choosing her cards, she narrowed it down to about 8 she loved.  Then we helped narrow her choice down.  Her final decision came after I had an idea of something personal we could add to her cards.  She LOVED the idea!

We had a little impromptu photo shoot until we came up with the perfect shot for her card!

She was super excited to take them to school and loved how they turned out! Taking the pictures was a lot of fun too...I'll have to post some outtakes soon. :)

I sent them off to school with pink heart pancakes and pink milk in their bellies. ♥

"Tiny" Valentine's Cards

It's no surprise how much I love Tiny Prints since I've raved about them time and time again!

Well, another time is upon us that cards are appropriate.... Valentine's Day! Yeah, yeah, everyone just calls it a made up holiday, but come on who didn't love making and decorating boxes at school to collect cards in???  I LOVED Valentine's Day in elementary school and even when I was teaching kindergarten. Everyone gives something to everyone, yummy heart shaped cookies and red, white and pink cupcakes, candy and more sugar than kids could possibly need. What's not to love?!

Well, now the boxes are made at home since the shift in how kids are taught in classrooms and there's less time for letting kids be kids, but that's an entirely different post. ;)  Even though the boxes are made at home, there are still cards given out. This is Andrew's last year in elementary school, thus his last classroom Valentine gathering. All too quickly, he will be wanting to get something for a real Valentine. *sigh*

He said he didn't want anything "girly" and "cute", so he made a lego brick.  Perfect for him! We made Lego Valentine cards at home for him to pass out.  This year, we've been looking at different ideas and Tiny Prints Valentine's cards for kids has a BUNCH of great choices!
