3 Year Visit to the Doc

Continuing our celebration of  threeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Lily had her 3 year well visit this week with our favorite pediatrician!  I love well visits to the doctor! Love to see how much my kids have grown.  :)

Our sweet Lily was very serious throughout this appointment which is very different than her typical joyful, rambunctious self.  She was still kind and polite and very sweet every time she spoke to anyone. But yeah, serious. haha

Lily measured 38.5 inches tall which is the 90th percentile and weighed 33 pounds which is 75%.  It's consistent with how she's been growing the majority of her life.  As Dr. Kelly and I were talking about height, she looked up some info and Lily is the height of an average 4 1/2 year old!  I knew she was tall, but whoa.

Lily apparently was done listening to her doctor and I discuss potty training, height, eating habits etc. and said to Dr. Kelly, "Can you listen to my heartbeat, please?"    It made me laugh!  So, we moved onto the physical part of her visit.

Lily asked for her eyes to be checked out again and then wanted to check out Blue's eyes too. She was very thorough. Thank you, Dr. Lily.

She is growing perfectly! Active, confident, verbal, intelligent, capable.  Lily told Dr. Kelly she loves Daniel Tiger, twirling, singing and her daddy.  She is healthy and that simply makes me happy.

I'm so grateful to LOVE her pediatrician and she was exactly what even I needed in Lily's early weeks when we struggled with her gaining weight, with her jaundice.  We're so grateful to have found her!  Next time we see her {hopefully} will either be for a flu shot or for the new baby's early visit depending on when the baby arrives in October. :)

Here's an early picture of them when Lily was just 2 months old...

...and 4 months old.

3rd Wedding Anniversary

George and I celebrated our third anniversary July 20th, by going to a comedy show we had both been looking forward to.  While this may not seem exciting, for old folks such as ourselves, we never go out on dates. Primarily, this is due to not having anyone to watch Lily, so when we saw that Billy Gardell was coming close to Pittsburgh actually on our anniversary, I was super excited and we made plans--bought tickets and found a babysitter immediately!

This past year we just started watching Mike & Molly and it easily became one of our favorites to watch together. I mean, she's a teacher, he's a cop, he's got a controlling mother who doesn't like his wife...it's like watching us on tv each week! haha  (I am, however, so thankful George is not still a police officer!)

We headed to the casino which was about an hour and 15 minutes away from our house.  It was a pretty drive where we got to talk uninterrupted. That, in itself, was awesome!

Billy Gardell is from Pittsburgh, so he incorporates local stories into his show which are pure comedy classic!  He had a guy open for him who was also local and a longtime family friend of Billy Gardell who was pretty funny as well.  He was a good warm up.

During Billy's set {I wish he were my friend, so I'm going to call him Billy.}   he talked about his family and friends who were at the show by name and funny enough, one of his cousins was a police officer that George used to work with! Small world.

We had a great time laughing and being a couple for a few hours without kids--despite all the kicking the baby was doing from her mama laughing super hard!

I adore this man and love that he loves me even when it's not easy.  We've been together for 6 years, married for 3. A lifetime will not be long enough...

Happy Anniversary, my love! ♥

Three.

July 24th, our sweet Lily turned 3...

It's truly amazing to me that she's already three. It's like we blinked and she went from our baby to this little girl who asks inquisitive questions, remembers things that shock us, and that she knows and understands concepts that surprise us every single day when she shares her world.

She challenges me in ways that are unexpected. I sometimes have to remind myself that that strong-will she possesses will serve her in so many positive ways in her life.  She's definitely her own person----independent, yet still loves her connection time with both Mama and Daddy differently.  She thinks her big brother is the greatest ever and I'm so grateful that even though there is a 10 year difference between them, they are very close.  That's all my Andrew.  He's so good with her.  I have so much gratitude for him. I hope that they always stay close.

We spent Lily's birthday celebrating her!

We put balloons in her room while she was sleeping so she'd wake up and see her favorite pink balloons! Well, around 3:00am, she woke up crying because they scared her in her room. So almost 28 week pregnant, half asleep Mama was scooping 30 something balloons out into the hall and trying to calm Lily.  Not quite what I had in mind.   Of course when she woke up in the morning and opened her door, she was super excited to see all the pink balloons in the hallway so we put them back in her room. :)

Next up, it was my plan to make her pink number 3 pancakes.  She wanted Lucky Charms.  Of course, she did.  I gave her a little bowl of Lucky Charms while I made her pancakes.   We started out in the kitchen eating and then moved out to the back porch to finish up since the weather was so awesome! It was 64 degrees, no humidity --just gorgeous out!

After breakfast, we hung out at home and played for awhile before we headed off to the bakery to get her cupcake.  We decided to try a different bakery near our new house and it was a bust, so we headed off to the one we've always gone to.  The only downside was it ended up being during naptime and she had fallen asleep on the way which means we were trying to keep grumpy girl at bay.  She chose three little pink thumbprint cookies and a cupcake before heading home to nap a little bit.

Lily has been asking Daddy for a fishing pole, a pink camping chair and to go fishing, so we decided her birthday was the perfect day! Her daddy loves fishing and I'm so excited that it's something even at this age that she wants to share with him. ♥

There's a pond right down the street from us that's stocked with fish and perfect for easy fishing with little ones.  I love watching them together.  Lily wanted to put her pole in the water and not just the line, kept wanting to throw sticks into the ponds, and she squealed a lot. Not ideal for fishing, but definitely Lily.

When they caught their fish, she was pretty funny about it.  She was excited at first then it flopped a little bit and scared her, so she came running over to me screaming. I couldn't stop laughing!  Daddy kept trying to get her to kiss the fish and she wanted no part of it.

After fishing, we stopped by George's parents' house for a few minutes to drop something off. Lily twirled in the front yard.

We left and headed to get Lily her choice supper of Chic-Fil-A before we went home to sing "Happy Birthday" and let her blow out her candle.  She kept saying it, "Do it again."  So we did.  Three times.

Happy Birthday, Lily!
We love you more than life! You make us laugh, you try our patience, we adore your empathetic ways, love how much you love music, are proud of how smart you are... Keep impressing us, testing us, and teaching us.  We are better people for you being our daughter. It is one of the greatest blessings of my life that I was given the gift of you.

28 weeks~ baby i2

DATE:  July 25, 2013

How far along: 28 weeks = THIRD trimester yipppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Total Weight Gained:
At my last appointment on July 9th, I'd gained 3lbs more pounds of my original 8 lost, so still down 2lbs from the beginning.

How big is baby?  "your baby's the size of an eggplant!"
"Putting on layers of fat, your baby now weighs in around 1.5 to 2.5 pounds and measures about 13.6 to 14.8 inches. . "
  **taken from The Bump

How baby is growing:
  • "She's starting to develop more fat, so her wrinkly skin will start to get smoother."
  • "Her lungs are mature enough that she'd probably survive if she was born now."
  •  "She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes."
  •  "With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb."

  • **taken from The Bump and Babycenter

Maternity Clothes:  I can still wearing regular comfy pants (read: no buttons/zippers) and big shirts for the most part. If I put on real pants/shorts, then they are most definitely maternity!  A lot of dresses and skirts oh and pajammies of course.

Sleep: I'm still worn out all the time.  The aches and pains at the end of the day make getting to sleep difficult and bedtime is usually when my heartburn kicks in.

Best Pregnancy Moment of the Week:     Hitting the 3rd trimester!

Movement: She's a mover! She doesn't really kick me though, she jumps and tumbles.

Food Cravings:  frozen coke, Lucky Charms, chocolate cheesecake, cherries, Chic-Fil-A. Apparently, we're representing the letter C these last few weeks.

    Food Aversions:
A lot of nights absolutely nothing sounds good for supper, so Lucky Charms it is.

Gender:  our second precious baby girl

Symptoms:  irritability still, exhaustion, lots of low pressure especially at the end of the day when I'm trying to go to bed. It's super painful. :(   I failed my 1 hour glucose screen with a big score of 156 (135 was passing).  So last Friday, I did the 3 hour test and passed it! yay! That makes all 3 kids that I didn't pass the 1 hour and did the 3 hour.

What I miss: not feeling exhausted all the time...although I know this isn't going to go away for many, many years to come haha

What I'm looking forward to: Being settled in our new house, getting the girls' room situated and furniture painted, finally picking a middle name for this girl!  Also, I go back to the dr. next week, then start my bi-weekly visits!

    27 weeks, 2 days

    28weeks 1 day

"Your 10.5-to-11.8-inch fetus weighs about 12.7 to 20.8 ounces. "
      **taken from The Bump

    How baby is growing:
  • "Her see-through skin is gradually becoming more opaque."
  • "And it's got a new pink glow, thanks to the small capillaries that have recently formed."

  • **taken from The Bump

Maternity Clothes:  I can still wearing regular comfy pants and big shirts for the most part. If I put on real pants/shorts, then they are most definitely maternity!  A lot of dresses and skirts oh and pajammies of course.

Sleep: Still worn out all the time. Still been waking up a few hours in the middle of the night then falling back asleep shortly before it's time to wake up. I think I need a snoogle! :)

Best Pregnancy Moment of the Week:     Lily and Andrew feeling her move!

Movement: Around 20 weeks, I started feeling her move more and more. Now she's kicking the crap out of me all day everyday. I love it!! She's my latest baby to feel. The previous few weeks it was very regular movement around 10am, 2pm, 6pm and 10pm.  Nothing at all like my other pregnancies.

Food Cravings:  frozen coke, cereal--mostly Captain Crunch, water, lemon-lime powerade, dill flavored anything--popcorn, chips mostly

    Food Aversions:
    none really lately

Gender:  our second precious baby girl

Symptoms:  irritability, exhaustion, swelling feet at the end of the day, lots of low pressure

What I miss: not feeling exhausted all the time...

What I'm looking forward to: Being settled in our new house and getting baby stuff ready!
