Yesterday was long.
As in, I just could not wait until bedtime.
See, Monday night, my normally sleep-all-night-long-and-have-been-for-all-but-about-2 1/2 months-of-my- life baby, kept waking up.
Screaming.
Hysterically.
The first time, {right after I'd gotten into bed, of course} I went up and thought she just needed her paci. No biggie. Popped it back in and gave her her blankie and out I went.
Crying crying crying and more crying. I went back in and she was sitting up, arms outstretched, wailing, "MaaaaMaaaa".
I picked her up, hugged her, grabbed her blankie and brought her down to lay with me for a little bit. She laid on my chest, just like she did when she was a teeny newborn while I watched the news in bed. I put her back in bed shortly and back to bed I went.
About a half hour later, I was just about to fall asleep when the hysterical crying began again. Daddy went up this time and same thing. Couldn't get her to calm down. All things checked--diaper, too hot/too cold, paci etc. He finally got her back to sleep and came back to bed. Only for an hour later for the cycle to repeat.
I went and got her and brought her back to bed with me right away. Only she didn't want to lay on my chest this time. She was tired and just wanted to sprawl in the middle of the bed between Daddy and me. She laid her head near me and her legs diagonally towards him. He didn't move at all. In fact, he didn't even know she was there. I kept telling him to move his elbow because he was almost elbowing her, then me in the head. I dozed off guarding our heads until I knew she was completely back to sleep. Then I stumbled back upstairs and laid her in her crib, made sure she settled in and finally crawled myself back in bed around 4:30am for the hour and a half until the alarm went off. We think we've begun 2 year molar hell, but something else was going on with her too. :( She was sad and pathetic. Poor baby.
Up all night led to me sleeping through my second alarm to get Andrew and Reagan up for school. So at 7:49am, when I woke up suddenly, it was a scramble to get them ready and out the door to get to the bus in 20 minutes.
By 8:45am, Lily was heading for the steps with her blankie and saying, "night night" after only being up just about an hour. She ate breakfast first then finally went to bed around 10 and she fell right asleep and took a 3 and a half hour nap.
When I went to get her lunch ready, I turned on the water to wash strawberries and nothing came out of the faucet. Nada. I called the water company and found out it was off due to an issue in our town, pretty close to us. Ok. A little while. later I went outside and found the issue was very close to us. Like just down the street. There was a break in a line and water was shooting in the air.
Funny how you realize how much you need water when you can't use it. Then 5 hours later when it came back, the lines needed to be flushed and cleaned out, so it was a long time without water yesterday afternoon and evening.
We spent the afternoon watching "Go Go-eeeeeee" otherwise known as "Yo Gabba Gabba" and coloring.
She's seriously is so content with some paper and anything to write with.
Yesterday was just l-o-n-g.
Thankfully, I can say that last night, Lily slept soundly for 12 1/2 hours.

A Lil Update on Lily
Lily is thinking about walking. Just thinking so far, but yikes! I'm not ready for her to be this big!! She practically runs with her walker and she's strong, so she tries to just go over or through anything in her way then ends up falling over the walker.
She stood up the other day without holding on to anything --just the stand up from the floor. Then it kind of freaked her out because I started clapping and excitedly cheering!
Birthday party planning is in full swing! In just 12 short days, this baby girl of mine will be ONE! I cannot believe it. Simply can't. My to-do list is a mile long, so sometimes I'm up wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too late, but yeah, she's worth it. And fortunately she's a sleeper, so I do get to sleep in at least until 8am! I know--lucky!!
Here's a little peek at the banner... (that I stayed up until 2am working on)
She crawls REALLY fast, so she doesn't have any trouble getting around anywhere in the meantime.

Teeth are coming in all over the place. And I mean all over the place. Bottom two on either side of the two middle ones she has, the top middle and two wayyyyyyy far back on the top ---I think they might be molars, but it's hard to tell because everytime I try to get in there to look, she squirms away. And as if those FIVE weren't enough all at once, there's a swollen gum for her other fang on top.
We call this her True Blood face: (she's actually smiling her cheesy smile, but it reminds me of Jessica on True Blood when she flashes her fangs)

Vampire Baby
Aside from the fact that this picture is just adorable, it shows the hilarity of Lily's teeth! She's had those bottom two for a long time and those are pretty typical to come in first and/or together.
Do you see up on the top on the right (in the picture--her left)? Not in the middle top. But that vampire thingie? Yeah, that one. She's gotten in her two bottom and that random fang. It makes me laugh because it just looks so goofy!
The top middle one next to it is just beginning to break through since these pictures were taken on July 1st, so I'm glad I was able to capture her lone, random fang before it is no longer lonely.

Sleep Fighter
The teething has turned my normally good sleeper into the biggest sleep fighter EVER! Crankypants all day for sure for two days in a row. The second night, the crappy naps had finally caught up with her. See, she has this favorite part of her crib...the corner by the door.
I lay her down, give her her bunnylovey from Andrew, turn on her sound machine and she turns on her seahorse. And almost immediately, she laughs and flips over to her belly and crawls. Umm, sweet pea...mama doesn't think it's so funny. Actually it does crack me up that she laughs first before she does it.
Her second favorite thing to do is pull herself up and stand in her crib, "talking" or fussing until someone comes back in to repeat the cycle. (yes, I know) So, she heads to her favorite corner and stands up, bouncing and clearly not sleeping.
Well, day 2 of nap sleep fighting and it was finally bedtime. Above mentioned cycle took place, only mama didn't go back in to repeat. When I went in to check on her after I thought she was finally asleep, this was how I found her:

She'd made her way into her favorite corner and was so exhausted from two day crap nap, she just fell asleep sitting up! Obviously, I had to grab the camera before laying her down. :)
That'll teach ya kid...nap when you're supposed to.
(next day: nap1- 1 1/2 hrs. nap2 - 2 1/2 hrs.)

Dear Teeth,
Please make your way through Lily's gums, otherwise Mama may end up running for the hills.
Love, A Mama ready to pull her hair out

I don't do whiny. Never have. I'm guessing I never will. I have a typically happy-go-lucky baby girl who chatters, smiles, laughs all the time. Cries when she is hungry, tired or gets hurt. There's never constant crying in our house. Lucky, I know. So, so lucky. Part of it her temperament, but I wholeheartedly believe part of it is that she's been pretty scheduled from the very beginning. Her cues were easy to follow and we've been very blessed.
Yesterday...omgthewhiningneverstoppedanditwaslikenailsonachalkboard. Nothing made her happy. I gave her things to chew on, rubbed her gums, medicine, held her, rocked her. She napped for only like 20 minutes at a time when she normally naps 2 hours at a time. Misery was top banana. The only time she was happy yesterday was in the tub before bed.
When she was finally in bed, I sent George a text that said, "I'm glad today's over. Sheesh." ...then promptly fixed myself a margarita.
