You Can Leave Your Hat On...

A few months ago I started on my quest for Lily's winter hat. I knew I wanted something crocheted and super cutie of course and since my crochet skills left off at the end of the purple chain my grandmother taught me to make when I was 10, I had to look elsewhere.

I started looking on Etsy, but never found anything that I loved, you know really loved.
So, I tried a couple store bought things on while we'd be out shopping and it just wasn't what I was looking for.

Then I saw a cutie picture of a babe of one of my online mama friends, Ginger who lives locally. Cutie baby was wearing an owl crocheted hat. So, I asked her mama if she thought she could make a monkey! Of course, I wanted a monkey...for our little monkey legs!

Literally she replied with a quick, "hmmm let me see."  And within an hour I had a picture of something she'd found. I loved it!

I mean, LOVED it!

We talked about the color I wanted, Lily's head size and a few other details. Next thing I knew, I got an email that it was done and she was mailing it the next day! Yes, you've got that right, I ordered it and she mailed it the next day.

I was so excited for it to arrive and JUST in time for it to start getting cold and my sweet little monkey with no hair to keep warm in.

Well, let me tell you when I got it, I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!! I put on Lily's head and it was EXACTLY what I had wanted! It was pretty snug on her head, but I guessed it would be stretched some with movement and was just tight because it was just crocheted. I emailed Ginger to let her know I had gotten it and asked if it would stretch some. She said for sure it would and was glad I loved it. :)

Lily wore her hat for a little while and I quickly realized that she'd grow out of this amazing hat pretty quickly because she is a teeny baby with a big head! I emailed Ginger again and told her what I thought.

This wonderful woman made a new hat and we met up the following night at Light Up Night for Lil to get her big head into the right size!

I'm so thankful to have met Ginger and for Lily to have the perfect hat this winter!

I love the pearl inside the flower! So pretty

Here's her 1st one...
and so creepy sleeping with her eyes open!
Ginger featured Lily's hat on her Facebook Page and you can find her on her Etsy site as well!
